Many attempts throughout the week to get through cover crop without dragging. Front swept kinves with coulters in front did not work. Clymer coulters with arm assemblies with CO-51 knives did better until in the thick mat (Humes end) and then would plug. Wiese back swept knives (Kale Mrkting) on the shanks did not work. Finally, back swept knives (from Shoup-adapted 3/8 tube to 1/2") on the coulter arm assemblies worked. A salesperson from FDS said the key was to get the knives as close to the coulter blades as possible to get through thick covers. Increased spring pressure to get coulters in the ground as it was very hard and dry. MX110 could pull the N applicator much easier with coulter arm assemblies. Started side dressing West of house lot but then skipped to east end of the field and worked west while Jess trimmed fallen tree that was in the field.
